Reuters: Naftali Bennett’s cabinet is on the verge of collapse.
Referring to the departure of a member of the coalition cabinet of the Israeli Prime Minister, a British news agency wrote that his shaky cabinet is getting closer to the collapse and holding of elections in occupied Palestine.
Following the failure of the caretaker Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to pass a security law in the Knesset, the resignation of a member of the cabinet brought the cabinet closer to collapse.
“Israel’s fragile cabinet coalition appears to be on the verge of collapse on Monday following reports that a lawmaker from Bennett’s right-wing party has decided to step down,” Reuters reported Monday evening.
“This change came as the Bennett Coalition, which is diverse in its views and includes far-right, liberal and Arab parties, collapsed even more a year after the end of Benjamin Netanyahu’s 12-year rule,” Reuters reported. “It is approaching.”
“I have informed the prime minister that, given the current situation, I am no longer part of the coalition,” Nair Auerbach, a member of the far-right Yamina party, said in a statement released by the Zionist media.
According to reports, Auerbach did not answer questions about allegations that members of the “extremist and anti-Zionist” Knesset had led the coalition “in troubled directions.” His departure left the Bennett coalition with 59 of the 120 seats in the Knesset, two less than the majority.
“After weeks of squabbling between cabinet partners, the clearest sign of the coalition’s weakness came last week when a bill to extend Israeli law on settlers in the occupied West Bank failed in parliament,” Reuters reported. “This defeat has brought the prospect of holding the fifth election in the last three years closer.”
Last Monday, the Bennett Coalition submitted to the Knesset a plan to extend the regime’s laws on Zionist settlers in Zone C, but did not vote against the opposition parties.
