Resolution of the UN General Assembly against the Zionist occupation.
The UN General Assembly adopted a draft resolution against the Israeli occupation.
The UN General Assembly on Friday approved a draft resolution in favor of Syria and Palestine.
The resolution calls for the permanent recognition of the sovereignty of the Palestinian people over the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem, and the sovereignty of the Syrian Golan Heights over the region’s natural resources, the Palestinian news agency Sama reported.
According to Sama, 156 countries voted in favor of the law, but the United States, Israel, Canada, Nairo, Micronesia, the Marshall Islands and Palau opposed it, and 15 countries abstained.
The Palestinian representative to the United Nations said the decision was part of a series of resolutions that benefit the Palestinian people and cover various political, economic and social aspects.
The Palestinian representative continued that the resolution is important because it reaffirms the legitimacy of the Palestinian people in dominating and managing their natural resources; In accordance with international law and the Fourth Geneva Convention, this rule, in addition to recognizing the right of the Palestinian people to receive compensation from the Zionist regime, is a necessary condition for sustainable development in Palestine.
According to the resolution, the construction of a barrier by the Zionists and the construction of settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, violate international law and deprive the Palestinian people of their natural resources. The resolution calls on the Zionist regime, as an occupying power, to adhere to it, and calls on the UN Secretary-General to report to the General Assembly on the implementation of the resolution at the next meeting.
Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, thanked the countries that voted, saying that the widespread vote on the resolution once again showed the international community’s support for the full rights of the Palestinian people.
