Relations between Damascus and Ankara depend on the end of Turkish occupation.
Emphasizing the strengthening of relations with Saudi Arabia, the Syrian Foreign Minister announced that relations with Turkey will not return to normal unless this country withdraws from Syria.
According to Mehr News Agency, Syrian Foreign Minister “Faisal Al-Miqdad” in a conversation with RT channel emphasized: the current situation of relations between Arab countries and the discussion of its expansion is good and the meetings held on the sidelines of the Jeddah Arab Summit, especially the meeting with Saudi leaders We evaluate positively.
He further added: We witnessed the expression of kindness during the meeting of Arab leaders in Jeddah towards the people and leaders of Syria, and we feel that the leaders and peoples of the Arab countries always love us because Syria adheres to the goals of the Arab nation above all. He has made sacrifices for the issues of this Ummah, that’s why this amount of welcome in all our recent meetings should not be strange.
Al-Maqdad stated: The meeting held between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was very warm and intimate and reflects the historical relations between the two countries. From the very important words of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, we have the impression that the future is bright and bilateral relations have returned to their normal course. The relations between the two countries have not reached zero during the past periods at different levels.
He added: The Saudi authorities showed the same amount of love and respect to the Syrian authorities that the Syrian people expected from their Saudi brothers. All the Syrian people throughout the country expressed their happiness because of the presence of their country’s officials in the Jeddah meeting.
Regarding the relations between Syria and Qatar, Al-Maqdad said: We should not return to the past. As Bashar Assad emphasized, we are the children of the present age and we must look to the future. There may be some considerations in this regard and different assessments regarding the situation of the Arab nation and the relations between the Arab countries, but we hope that these problems will be resolved among the Arab countries.
He emphasized about relations with Egypt: Our goal is to restore full relations, but in some cases, we see that diplomatic affairs take time. Bashar Assad and Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the president of Egypt, spoke on the phone after the recent earthquake in Syria, and other contacts have been established between them. For this reason, you should not only pay attention to television images and news information, because in diplomatic relations, something is said, something else is announced publicly.
