Referring to the attacks of Turkish forces: Iraqi Defense Minister: The sovereignty of the country is our red line.
Iraqi Defense Minister Thabet Al-Abasi, in a conversation with the Saudi Al-Hadath network, emphasized about Turkey’s attacks on Iraqi territory: We must resolve the issue of Turkey’s attacks politically. The sovereignty of Iraq is our red line. We have common interests with Turkey and Iran, which we must preserve politically. At the same time, we have informed these two countries that the sovereignty of Iraq is our red line.
He stated: Iraqi soil will not be a source of concern for anyone. We want to conduct joint exercises with some neighboring countries. The Iraqi government plans to strengthen the army and arm it. We have designated a series of special forces for desert areas that will be trained by the international coalition.
Al-Abasi emphasized about Daesh that Daesh terrorist organization does not control a part of Iraqi territory.
Regarding the Al-Hol camp, he said: We have taken over 1,100 people from this camp and transferred them to the Al-Jadea camp located in Nineveh province. The countries whose nationals are present in the Al-Hol camp in Syria must take action to return their nationals so that this camp is finally dismantled.
Al-Abasi emphasized regarding the existence of weapons in this country: We will never allow these weapons to be used outside of the government’s will and control. Regarding the refugees, I must say that their return to the liberated areas is one of the priorities of the Iraqi government.
The Minister of Defense of Iraq stated: We will never allow the intervention of any movement in the functioning of the Ministry of Defense and the Iraqi Army and political work in these institutions. We have high security and intelligence coordination with the authorities of Saudi Arabia.
