Pakistani media announced on Thursday that General Syed Asim Munir, who was appointed as the head of the country’s armed forces two weeks ago, has chosen Saudi Arabia as the first destination of his foreign trips, as is the usual practice of Pakistani political and military leaders.
Like his predecessors, the new Pakistani army chief is expected to repeat Islamabad’s commitment to cooperation with Saudi Arabia in defense, military and security fields during his visit to Riyadh and meeting with Saudi officials.
This trip takes place at the same time as the economic crisis in Pakistan worsens, an issue that the military leaders of this country have always played a role in overcoming, and in several stages, the Pakistan Army is at the forefront of achieving the mission of receiving financial aid from allied countries or reaching an agreement with The International Monetary Fund is set to receive a loan.
The English-language newspaper “Express Tribune” of Pakistan announced today in a report: General Asim Munir, by making his first official trip to Saudi Arabia, is going to present Islamabad’s request to receive emergency financial aid worth 3 billion dollars with the Saudi side.
This is while Saudi Arabia extended its 3.2 billion dollar deposit in the Central Bank of Pakistan in recent months with the aim of helping the stability of the country’s foreign exchange reserve fund. In this situation, Pakistan is still trying to inject another 3 billion dollars to save its livelihood.
