The head of the European Commission announced the banning of the Russian media outlets Sputnik and Rashatodi in the union.
European Commission President Ersula van der Lane announced on Sunday that the Russian media outlets Sputnik and Rashatodi have been banned from operating in the European Union.
He told a joint news conference with the EU foreign policy chief that the bloc would ban the Kremlin’s “media machine” in the EU and that two other media outlets, Rasha Todi and Sputnik, would be able to publish articles in the bloc to justify Putin’s war and division. “They will not be in our union.”
“We are developing tools to ban misinformation in Europe,” he added.
According to Fars, Russian President Vladimir Putin last Thursday morning ordered a special operation in the Denbas region in response to a request for military assistance from the leaders of the separatist region of eastern Ukraine. Subsequently, Russian military fighter jets, artillery, and missile systems targeted various military positions from east to west and north to south of Ukraine.
At a Ukraine-related event, Russian President Vladimir Putin met today with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Russian Chief of General Staff Grasimov to discuss the situation in Ukraine. He ordered the Russian Defense Ministry to put the nuclear deterrents on alert.
