Rapid implementation of the law prohibiting abortion in American states.
Activists in America have said that after the US Supreme Court’s ruling on the ban on abortion, some states have quickly implemented this law.
Human rights issues in the United States have said that access to abortion services has been severely limited or impossible in dozens of states since the country’s Supreme Court ruling to abolish abortion.
Anthony Romero, CEO of the American Civil Liberties Union, said: “Politicians and anti-abortion states have taken their cudgels from the Supreme Court and started implementing the law prohibiting abortion.”
He clarified that the number of these states is expected to increase in the coming days, weeks and months to include 26 states across the United States. “More than half the country will ban abortion,” Romero said.
Last Friday, the US Supreme Court canceled the 50-year-old right of women to have an abortion. Six conservative Supreme Court justices overturned a 1973 ruling that allowed women to have an abortion in the first six months of pregnancy.
The court’s ruling gives each state the freedom to choose its own laws to determine when abortion is legal and illegal.
After the repeal of Roe and Wade, some Republican-led states immediately banned or severely restricted abortion. Some states, such as Texas, are waiting for the Supreme Court to issue its official ruling on the case before taking immediate action. Because apart from the opinion issued last Friday, the official verdict may take about a month.
Among the states that immediately implemented the ban on abortion was the state of “Utah”. After this ruling, Utah has implemented the ban on abortion since last Friday night.
