Qatar National Security Adviser visits Kabul after handing over airport management to UAE.
Following the announcement of the failure of negotiations with Turkey and Qatar and the transfer of control of Afghanistan’s airports to the UAE, the Qatari National Security Advisor traveled to Kabul and met with senior Taliban officials.
Qatar National Security Advisor Mohammed bin Ahmad Al-Musnad traveled to Afghanistan yesterday (Thursday) and met with senior officials of the group.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban’s first deputy prime minister, met with Qatar’s national security adviser and thanked Qatar for its assistance to the Afghan people, saying that the Taliban was seeking self-sufficiency.
He added: “The Taliban seeks to expand bilateral economic and political cooperation with countries around the world, including Qatar.”
The senior Taliban official further stressed that Qatar could invest in various sectors, including mining and electricity generation in Afghanistan.
Qatar’s national security adviser, who traveled to Kabul following the failure to negotiate the transfer of control of Afghanistan’s airports to Turkey and Qatar to Kabul, said Doha was seeking to expand trade, political and social ties with Afghanistan.
Qatar’s national security adviser also traveled to Kabul to meet with other senior Taliban officials, including Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaqi and Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani, the interim government of the Taliban.
