Saudi opponents say the Saudi government does not hand over the bodies of those executed, and that families do not know the location of the burials.
Saudi human rights organizations and social media users in a campaign called on the Saudi government to return the bodies of those executed in previous years to their families.
Using the hashtag #Salmwa_Al-Jashamin (hand over the bodies), they spoke about the political executions of recent years and the non-delivery of the bodies of those executed to their families.
Currently, at least 83 families inside Saudi Arabia and other families abroad are demanding the return of their children after years of executions. Eight of those executed are under the age of 18, and their families still do not know where they were buried, and all families have been denied the right to bury their dead.
The European-Saudi Organization for Human Rights says the bodies of 86 people killed by the Saudi government have not been returned to their families.
The Saudi WikiLeaks website also wrote that despite the Saudi government’s lack of transparency and the fear of the victims’ families, the number is even higher. Especially in the case of the bodies of non-Saudis who have been executed in this country.
The Saudi-European Human Rights Organization says the Saudi government is the only government that uses the policy of holding bodies hostage against its citizens.
