The current Israeli prime minister once again witnessed widespread protests against his actions and corruption before leaving his post in the occupied Jerusalem after failing to form a cabinet.
Hours before the Israeli Knesset (Knesset) convened to vote of confidence in the new cabinet and oust the current prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, the occupied Jerusalem was once again the scene of protests against him.
According to the Yedioth Ahronoth website, nearly a thousand residents of occupied Jerusalem gathered in front of Netanyahu’s residence on Balfour Street on Saturday evening to protest his poor performance and corruption cases.
Yedioth described the protests as the latest in a series of protests against Netanyahu after a year and a half of protests on Saturday nights before he was ousted on Sunday.
A large number of demonstrators closed a large number of streets and main thoroughfares in occupied Jerusalem, close to the residence of the Israeli Prime Minister.
The Jerusalem Post also reported that protesters took to the police and complained to several people who had been targeted in cars with firearms.
Demonstrators carried placards reading “Crime Minister instead of Prime Minister” and “Imprison him” to protest Netanyahu’s corruption allegations and stress the need for his trial.
Last week, Knesset Speaker Yariy Levin announced that a vote of confidence in the regime’s new cabinet would be held on Sunday.
In the event of a vote of confidence from the Knesset, the coalition cabinet of Yair Lapid, the leader of the Yashatid party, and Naftali Bennett, the leader of the Yamina party (along with six other parties) will also be sworn in at the same meeting.
