Presence of British troops in wide-scale exercises in Eastern Europe.
The British Ministry of Defense announced that the country will send 8,000 troops to Eastern Europe in order to prevent Russia, and that British troops will participate in a large-scale exercise in Eastern Europe.
The British Ministry of Defense said on Friday that in order to “deter against Russian aggression”, the British Armed Forces will send 8,000 more troops to Eastern Europe.
British troops will take part in extensive military exercises from north to south to be one of the largest British military deployments since the end of the Cold War.
“Europe’s security has not been so important,” said British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace. “In these exercises, our forces have joined forces with our allies across NATO to create one of the largest post-Cold War deployments.”
“The British military, along with its partners, has combined capabilities and shared values to advance peace and security,” Wallace added.
“We will redouble our military cooperation and we must end the Russian war in Ukraine,” British Foreign Secretary Liz Terrace said on Thursday morning, urging Russia to cut off energy imports of oil and gas from Russia. Let’s learn a lesson. NATO policy is sacred, and if Sweden and Finland want to join, we must accept it.
Earlier, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby called Russia’s threat to use nuclear weapons “irresponsible” and said that the outcome of the war in Ukraine, whatever it was, had changed Europe’s security environment.
Russia ordered a military strike on Ukraine on February 24. This development came days after Moscow formally recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics in eastern Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said his military operation is aimed at “demilitarizing Ukraine” and “de-Naziizing” Russia.
Since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, the United States and its allies have imposed heavy sanctions on Russia and provided significant financial and weapons assistance to the Ukrainians. A Kremlin spokesman recently warned that the supply of heavy weapons and military equipment to Ukraine would threaten European security and lead to instability.
