Preliminary agreement to extend the 6-month ceasefire in Yemen.
A Yemeni diplomatic source told Sputnik news agency today that the Yemeni Presidential Council and Ansarullah reached an agreement with the mediation of Oman and the ceasefire will be extended for 6 months.
Al-Mayadeen news channel also reported that Saudi Arabia called the head and members of Yemen’s presidential council to Riyadh and briefed them on their non-public talks and understandings with the National Salvation Government of Yemen.
Al-Mayadeen reported, quoting Yemeni sources: Saudi’s view is based on extending the current ceasefire in Yemen for another year with an understanding with Sana’a.
These sources added: The extension of the ceasefire with new conditions will bring the official announcement of the end of the war in Yemen and the cessation of its interference in Yemen. After the official announcement of the end of the war, Yemeni-Yemeni consultations will be held under the supervision of the United Nations and under the supervision of Saudi Arabia. These sources stated: The Yemeni-Yemeni consultations, under the supervision of the United Nations and the supervision of Saudi Arabia, will try to reach an agreement for a two-year transitional phase.
The aforementioned sources announced: Riyadh has communicated its decision to end the war and close the Yemeni case to the Yemeni Presidential Council.
“Abd al-Aziz al-Bakir,” the Minister of National Salvation of Yemen in Sana’a, previously announced in a tweet: “During the negotiations between Yemen and Saudi Arabia, with the mediation of Oman and the United Nations, agreements were reached, and Sana’s requests, including the payment of salaries and the extension of the ceasefire, were accepted, and the result was within days.” The future will be announced.
From April 6, 1994, Saudi Arabia, in the form of a coalition of several Arab countries including the UAE, and with the help and green light of the United States, launched massive attacks against Yemen – the poorest Arab country – under the pretext of returning Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, the resigned and fugitive president of this country. To fulfill his political ambitions and goals with his power. However, due to the courageous resistance of the Yemeni people and armed forces and their special missile and drone operations, they failed to achieve these goals and were forced to accept a ceasefire.
The ceasefire in Yemen was established on the 11th of April last year through the mediation of the United Nations, which could be extended for two months and has been extended twice so far. This agreement was supposed to be extended in October, but the non-fulfillment of the National Salvation government’s demands, which were based on the agreement, has led to its non-renewal until now.
