According to the report, the Iraqi expert said: “Measures are being taken to postpone the holding of early parliamentary elections in this country.” Some are seeking a delay in the election and the continuation of the activities of Mustafa al-Kazemi’s government.
Earlier, the Iraqi government announced that parliamentary elections would be held on June 6. However, Iraqi officials postponed the election deadline to October 10 (October 18).
Although there are conflicting rumors about the possibility of postponing the parliamentary elections in Iraq, no official news has been heard so far. Rising speculation about the imminent postponement of the Iraqi parliamentary elections has provoked strong reactions in the Iraqi political scene.
Many Iraqi political figures have reacted by declaring that they will not postpone the election under any circumstances. In this regard, Sheikh Abdul Amir Al-Taeiban, a member of the Iraqi parliament, stated: “Any postponement of the early parliamentary elections in Iraq is a coup against the will of the people in this country.”
He also said that some influential groups in the government structure are looking to be in the country’s decision-making positions for a longer period of time. That is why they are trying to postpone the elections.
On the other hand, the “Wataniya” coalition, led by “Ayad Allawi”, recently announced its withdrawal from participating in the early parliamentary elections in Iraq. “In the current situation, the situation is such that participation in the elections will be low and the result will be a weak government,” said Wael Abdul Latif, a Patriotic Coalition official. Earlier, Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadr faction in Iraq, announced his withdrawal from the early parliamentary elections.
