After the world Catholic leader Pope Francis visited Iraq and met with senior officials, the pope announced that his next destination would be Lebanon.
Pope Francis, the world’s Catholic leader, announced his next destination in an interview with Sky News on Monday this evening.
“My next trip will be to Lebanon,” the pope said in response to a question about the next destination of his trip, according to the report.
“Lebanon is in a crisis and it is weak because of its diversity; “However, it has the power of the people.”
The world’s Catholic leader arrived in Baghdad on Friday afternoon for a three-day visit.
After arriving in the country, he first met with Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi and then with President Barham Saleh, as well as other political and popular figures.
On Saturday, the pope visited Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Sistani, the supreme authority of the Shiites in Najaf Ashraf, and talked with him for an hour behind closed doors.
Pope Francis also met on Sunday with the president, the prime minister of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, as well as the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and left Iraq this morning (Monday) after three days.
