Political tensions between Tel Aviv and Moscow; Russia’s ambassador to occupied Palestine summoned.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry summoned the Moscow ambassador and issued a strong protest against the Russian foreign minister’s remarks.
Hebrew media reported today (Monday) that the Russian ambassador to occupied Palestine, Anatoly Viktorov, had been summoned to the Foreign Ministry of the interim Zionist regime.
Interim Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid also described Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as “unforgivable” in his comparison of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler.
According to reports, Lapid strongly criticized Lavrov for saying yesterday that some of the biggest anti-Semites were Jews themselves.
According to the Haaretz newspaper, the Tel Aviv Foreign Ministry also issued a statement summoning Viktorov and expressing his strong protest against Lavrov’s remarks.
Lapid also claimed on his Twitter page: “Lavrov’s remarks are both an unforgivable and outrageous statement, as well as a terrible historical mistake. The Jews did not kill themselves in the Holocaust. “The lowest level of racism against Jews is to accuse Jews of anti-Semitism.”
“So what if Zelinsky is a Jew,” Lavrov said in an interview with the Italian network Zona Bianca yesterday in response to a question about how Russia wants to de-Naziize Ukraine while its own people have elected a Jewish president. “This fact does not negate the existence of Nazi elements in Ukraine. I believe that Hitler also had Jewish blood, and that some of the worst anti-Semites are the Jews themselves.”
