Paris meeting regarding Lebanon; Solving the crisis or guardianship?
Kuwait’s “Al-Jarideh” newspaper on Sunday published part of the goals and axes of the upcoming Paris meeting on Lebanon with the participation of France, America, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, quoting diplomatic sources and wrote: The Paris meeting will lead to the presentation of a clear road map of actions What the Lebanese should do to get out of the current crisis so that the crisis of electing the president and forming a coordinated government and carrying out desirable economic reforms are possible.
He added: “This meeting will be held with the presence of US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf, French President’s Advisor Patrick Durrell, Saudi Government Advisor Nizar Al Alullah, and Qatar’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Khalifi.” and the participating countries will discuss a political document to resolve the Lebanese crisis and to the satisfaction of the international community and the financial sponsors of this country. This plan is presented to the Lebanese people and if they respond to it properly and find a solution to resolve their differences, it can put Lebanon on the path to improve the situation.
Diplomatic sources told Al-Jarida: This meeting is about the selection of the president and prime minister, but it will not go into the examples and names of the candidates, but rather it will specify the characteristics that they must have, including the need for the new presidents not to be affiliated with any political party and That their election does not cause one political party to prevail over others.
According to Al-Jarida, three events cast a shadow on this meeting; First is the recent joint statement of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and French President Emmanuel Macron. Macron’s recent visit to Riyadh. The second event is Kuwait’s initiative, which was agreed upon by the Persian Gulf countries, and the focus of which is to solve the Lebanon crisis, as well as restore the country’s relations with the Arab countries and the Persian Gulf region.
