According to Al-Quds Al-Arabi, the two announced that they had taken this action in protest of the presence of the Zionist group and in response to the call of the Palestinian movement for special academic and cultural sanctions against the Zionist regime “PACBI”.
The Palestinian Movement for the Sanctions of the Zionist Regime issued a statement this week calling on Arab and Palestinian artists and academics to put pressure on the festival organizers to cancel the presence of the Israeli group and to boycott the festival if they do not agree. .

Another Arab artist, Sahad al-Khatib, released a video announcing his cancellation of the festival and urging others to do the same.
