Palestine reacts to Nike’s decision to boycott Tel Aviv.
The secretary general of the Palestinian National Initiative Front said that Nike’s decision to stop selling its products to stores in occupied Palestine underscores the regime’s apartheid system.
The American sportswear company Nike announced this month (October) that it would no longer send goods to stores in occupied Palestine, according to the International Group of News News.
Reacting to this, Mustafa al-Barghouti, secretary general of the Palestinian National Initiative Front, said that Nike’s decision to stop production in Israeli stores underscores that the company considers “Israel” an apartheid regime.
According to Palestine Today, al-Barghouti further praised the solidarity with the Palestinian people, saying that the Zionist regime does not care about statements condemning the regime, but is clearly influenced by sanctions and related campaigns.
On the other hand, the Israeli boycott movement “BDS” stated that it did not directly target Nike, but the growing impact of this movement on the isolation of the Israeli apartheid system and the departure of many companies in recent years, the risk associated with trading with this system.
The movement added that several companies today have found that trade cooperation with the Zionist regime complicates them in war crimes and crimes against humanity.
In this regard, the American ice cream company “Ben & Jerry” recently announced that it will stop marketing its products in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The company issued a statement stressing that it would no longer sell its products in Zionist settlements in occupied Palestine; “Because it conflicts with the company’s values.” The two Jews founded the company in 1978 in the United States.
