 Otba Abbasi announced the exact number of this year’s Arbaeen pilgrims based on the electronic counting system installed at the entrances of Karbala.

According to the official statement of Abbasi Holy Shrine, the number of Arbaeen pilgrims reached more than 21 million people this year.

According to Al-Sumariah, the Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Abbasi (Astan Quds Abbasi) announced in a statement that the number of pilgrims this year was 21 million 198 thousand 640 according to the electronic counting system installed at the entrances of the city of Karbala.

In the statement of Astana Quds Abbasi, there is also a table to compare the number of Arbaeen 1401 pilgrims in Karbala with previous years, which shows that the number of pilgrims this year has increased by five million compared to last year.

Earlier, Otba Abbasi announced the number of processions participating in the Arbaeen ceremony as 14,500 processions, of which 300 processions were from Arab and foreign countries.

In this regard, Brigadier General “Saad Ma’an”, the head of “Al-Ilam Al-Amani” media group (affiliated to the Iraqi Ministry of Defense), said that the number of pilgrims this year was the highest since 2003.

Tahsin al-Khafaji, the spokesman of the Joint Operation Headquarters of the Iraqi Army, emphasized the other day that the security forces continue to implement the Arbain pilgrimage plan.

He added: The Joint Operations Headquarters, which is present in Karbala, together with the Minister of Interior and the head of the security commission overseeing the Arbaeen pilgrimage, announced that this ceremony is continuing and the security forces are still stationed in their places.

Al-Khafaji stated that these forces supervise the division of pilgrims until the last pilgrim leaves Karbala, and clarified: This issue is very important to preserve the health of the pilgrims, and in this regard, there is no change in the military plans.

“Al-Efrat” news website also wrote that the arrival of pilgrims in the city of Karbala started on the 10th of Safar, corresponding to the 16th of Shahrivar, and now the pilgrims are leaving smoothly.
