Ocha: The debt of Afghan families has increased six times in the last 4 years.
According to Ava news agency, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Afghanistan announced this Wednesday in a statement that the average debt of the people of this country has increased six times from 2019 to 2022.
According to this statement, in the mentioned period, the amount of debt of Afghan families has increased from 114 dollars to 687 dollars.
The Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs of the United Nations also emphasized: We should not be indifferent to the people of Afghanistan and continue to help them.
According to this organization, people in Afghanistan are in a difficult situation and families in this country can hardly provide enough food.
It should be mentioned that after the Taliban group came to power in Afghanistan on August 15, 2021 and stopped foreign aid, this country has witnessed an increase in unemployment and poverty and the value of the national currency has also decreased sharply.
The United Nations previously announced that the problem of poverty in Afghanistan has increased sharply in recent years, and 28 million people, about two-thirds of the country’s population, need urgent aid.
The World Food Program affiliated with the United Nations also announced in October last year that 9 out of 10 Afghan citizens are unable to prepare enough food.
It should be noted that after the Taliban group came to power in Afghanistan on August 15 last year and stopped foreign aid, this country has witnessed an increase in unemployment and poverty and the value of the national currency has also decreased drastically.
On the other hand, the United States has also blocked 7 billion dollars of foreign currency reserves of the Central Bank of Afghanistan as part of the sanctions against the Taliban. UN human rights experts asked the US government to release the blocked assets of Afghanistan.
It should be noted that after 2 decades of occupation by foreign forces led by American terrorists, Afghanistan is now struggling with many problems.
