Nouri al-Maliki to the Turkish ambassador: Ankara should not try to create a crisis in Iraq.
During a meeting with the Ankara ambassador in Baghdad, the head of the State of Law Coalition stressed that the coalition opposes foreign interference in Iraq’s internal affairs.
Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, hosted Ankara Ambassador to Baghdad Ali Reza Konay on Sunday.
The head of the State of Law Coalition with the Turkish ambassador reviewed the latest political and security developments in Iraq, as well as developments in Arab and international countries, the Baghdad Al-Youm news website reported, quoting al-Maliki’s office.
He stressed that a political agreement must be reached between Iraqi nationalist groups, and that the State of Law opposes any interference in Iraq’s internal affairs.
Al-Maliki said that Turkey’s relations with the cabinet would provoke the anger and disgust of others, adding that Turkey should not play a role in supporting any plan that would create a crisis or target one section of the Iraqi people.
Emphasizing that establishing outstanding relations with Turkey and developing it is in Iraq’s interest, he stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation in various trade, economic and infrastructure fields.
“The beginning of a political solution in Iraq is the agreement and the cessation of interventions aimed at weighing the scales to the other side,” the Iraqi official concluded by addressing the Turkish ambassador.
In this regard, the book movement of Hezbollah in Iraq in mid-February about the Turkish attacks in northern Iraq noted: “The knife has reached the bone. It is enough to ignore the lives of our people and the sovereignty of our country … Know that a nation that shattered the grandeur of the world’s greatest power and rubbed its snout on the ground can also rub your nose on the ground … So, before “When it’s too late, withdraw your forces.”
