Noam Chomsky: America’s decline is mostly caused by internal shocks.

Famous American scientist, theorist and linguist Noam Chomsky said in an interview on Thursday that the decline of the United States of America is mostly caused by internal issues.
In an interview with “Truthout” website, this senior political analyst pointed out some of the factors that show that America’s decline is more caused by domestic issues than foreign ones.
“There’s been a lot of talk about America’s decline over the past few decades,” he says. Some of them are true. The peak of American power for which there was no historical precedent was 1945.
He added: “That situation could not last, and since then, the decline has begun, although in some ways, American power has remained the same.”
The American scientist went on to emphasize that this decline stems from internal factors, and mentioned the high death rate in the United States as one of the indicators showing this issue.
“There’s a lot to be said about this general issue,” Chomsky said. But if we want to stay focused on the main question that has been raised, it should be said that the recent decline of America is mostly caused by internal shocks. And these blows are also severe.”
He added: “One of the basic indicators is the death rate. The title of one of the recent studies is: “Even long before the spread of Covid-19, the United States was facing a crisis of early death.” The death rate was higher than in other rich countries.
Chomsky continues: “The data is astonishing, and the phenomenon of ‘deaths of despair’ among working-age white Americans has made this death rate even higher.” This is something that has never existed except during war and infectious diseases. This is just one of the strange indicators that show how this country has collapsed socio-economically and politically since the formation of the neoliberalism attack by the administrations of Reagan, Bush, Clinton and their subsequent presidents.
