Nigeria supports the principle of one united China.
While thanking China’s continuous efforts to improve the development of Nigeria’s infrastructure, the spokesman of the Nigerian presidency emphasized his country’s adherence to the principle of one China.
“Femi Adesina”, the spokesperson of the Nigerian presidential office, on Saturday, during the meeting with “Kai Jianchun”, the Chinese ambassador to his country, emphasized Nigeria’s position regarding the firm support of the principle of one China.
China’s CGTN news channel reported that Adesina, in a meeting with the Chinese ambassador, while expressing the attitude and position of the federal government of Nigeria on the Taiwan issue, noted Nigeria’s firm commitment to the principle of one China.
Chinese Ambassador Kai also said in this meeting that the recent visit of US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan is a serious violation of the one China principle and the provisions of the three joint declarations between China and the US… The action of the US seriously violates the basic norms of international relations. It undermines China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
Cai Jianchun emphasized: China strongly opposes this approach and will take decisive and strong measures to defend its national honor and protect its national unity.
Adesina also appreciated China’s continuous efforts to improve Nigeria’s infrastructure development in several areas including electricity, railways and aviation. He said: We will not forget China’s role.
The spokesman of the Nigerian presidency said that Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has a lot of respect for China and said: He has talked about China’s support many times and is deeply grateful for this support.
