New York Times: Israel is facing a critical internal conflict.
Following the escalation of the situation in Occupied Palestine following the controversial and extreme actions of Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet and Israelis pouring into the streets, the American newspaper New York Times announced in a report that the battle over the judicial system in Israel (Occupied Territories) is a deep ideological and cultural battle between Israelis. It is considered that it is accompanied by the continuation of demonstrations and conflicts between supporters and opponents of judicial changes.
The American media added that Israel is currently facing a deep ideological and cultural conflict between those who want a secular cabinet and those who insist on a “religious” (extreme) government.
The New York Times continued, critics of the judicial changes in Israel see the Supreme Court as the last bastion of moderate secular elites of European Jewish descent who managed Israel’s various cabinets in its early years. This is while religious Jews, especially the ultra-Orthodox, see the Supreme Court as an obstacle to their conservative lifestyle.
In the continuation of this report, it is stated that the Israeli far-rights, who want to stabilize the Israeli settlement plan in the West Bank, consider the Supreme Court as their enemy; Because this court, despite the fact that it did not create an obstacle in the settlement process in general, it prevents the ambitions of some right-wingers, especially regarding the creation of Israeli cities in the Palestinian lands that belong to the Palestinians. The Supreme Court also approved the plan to withdraw all Israeli settlers from the Gaza Strip in 2005, which caused protests by the settlers.
On the other hand, a poll conducted by the Direct Polling Institute in the occupied territories shows that two-thirds of the far-right population of Israel want the cabinet to continue pushing for the approval of the “judicial reform” plan and its implementation, and not to stop it.
This is while yesterday an unprecedented demonstration was held in front of the Israeli Knesset building, and according to Israeli media, more than 90,000 people participated in this demonstration. Also, the strike of Israeli institutions in protest of the law of judicial changes yesterday caused 2.5 billion shekels (the currency of the Zionist regime) to the Israeli economy, and if these strikes continue for a few more days, the amount of economic damage will be much higher.
