Avio Kukhawi has appointed Yafat Tomer Yerushalmi, the commander-in-chief of the Israeli army, as an adviser to the chief of staff on gender issues, committed to creating equal opportunities and preventing sexual harassment in the army.
Yafat Tomer Yerushalmi, who has served as an adviser to the Chief of Staff for Gender Affairs (Yohalam) at the Israeli General Staff since 2019, was appointed Military Prosecutor in July 2021 by the Minister of War.
Tomer Yeroshalmi was born in Netanya and is currently married with three children. He lives in the Ramat Hasharon area of the occupied territories.
He studied law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and after graduating with honors, he entered the army prosecutor’s office. In 1997, after specializing in the military tribunal, he was allowed to work as a military lawyer.
Yeroshalmi graduated with a master’s degree in law from Tel Aviv University in 1999 and at the same time served as an assistant professor in the Penal Code.
He was sent to the United States in 2003 for graduate school at Charlottesville School of Military Law in Virginia.
