Netanyahu, or Bennett, sparked controversy over the formation of a new cabinet.
The Hebrew newspaper Hume, of Israel, announced in an unexpected news item on Friday that Naftali Bennett will head the new Israeli cabinet, while Netanyahu had previously been appointed to form the cabinet.
“Among the proposed solutions to the crisis of forming a new cabinet, Yamina party leader Naftali Bennett will be appointed to replace current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Friday” according to Sputnik the newspaper said on its website.
The newspaper added: “Netanyahu will be the rotating prime minister in the Israeli cabinet, while Bennett will be the prime minister at the beginning of his term, and this is contrary to the past when Netanyahu agreed with the current defense minister Bani Gantz and the leader of the Blue and White Party.” He will remain Prime Minister for two years and Benny Gantz will take over for the next two years.
“This scenario is probably the last decision that will be made about the new cabinet,” Hume said.
The newspaper noted that Netanyahu agrees with expected prime minister Bennett, although the timing has not yet been determined.
According to the final results of the fourth Knesset election by the Zionist Electoral Commission, the right-wing Likud party led by Netanyahu and his traditional allies, despite winning 52 seats, failed to gain the necessary majority to form a new cabinet. Netanyahu to form a new cabinet.
