Nasrallah: We will not allow Israel to exploit Lebanon’s maritime resources.
“We are facing a new phase, especially as the recent developments, the invasion of Lebanon and putting the country in a difficult position,” said Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, secretary general of Hezbollah in Lebanon, in a speech broadcast on Al-Manar.
Stating that Israel’s action in the Karish gas field is a violation of Lebanese sovereignty, he added: “The issue of Lebanon’s maritime borders must become a major national issue.”
Hezbollah’s secretary general said that the gas and oil resources in Lebanese waters are the only hope left to save Lebanon economically.
Nasrallah added: “Everyone should have a sense of national and moral responsibility for this issue, because the issue of the country’s oil resources is no less important than the liberation of the border strip in 2000.”
Hezbollah’s secretary general said: “We should not allow the enemy to extract gas and oil from its field.”
“The resistance has the human resources and the financial, military, security and logistical strength to prevent Israel from extracting oil and gas from its field,” he said.
Nasrallah added: “The damage that Israel will suffer in each subsequent war is far greater than the damage that will be inflicted on Lebanon.”
Hezbollah’s secretary general said: “The popular demand of the resistance to intervene in this case and prevent Israel from extracting oil and gas will not upset us, but will make us happy.”
He added: “The first danger that threatens Lebanon is the US and Israeli efforts to separate a large area of this region from Lebanon, and the second danger is to prevent exploration and extraction by Lebanon.”
Nasrallah added: “Companies that pioneered the extraction of Lebanese oil and gas have been threatened by the United States and the Zionist regime.”
