Movements in America to identify Russia as a “sponsor of state terrorism”
A group of American politicians insists that the White House introduce Russia as one of the countries that “sponsors state terrorism”.
American politicians these days, in continuation of their anti-Russian efforts, have started movements to identify Russia as a “sponsor of state terrorism”.
The New York Times, in a report on Friday written by the Senate, supports such an action against Russia. “Nancy Pelosi”, the speaker of the US House of Representatives, has also declared her support for this issue.
However, according to the New York Times, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is still hesitant to take this step, which would entail sanctioning US allies for doing business with Russia.
On Wednesday, the US Senate passed a binding resolution asking Blinken to put Russia on the list of so-called “state sponsors of terrorism” along with Iran, North Korea, Syria and Cuba.
“To me, [Vladimir] Putin (Russian President) is now heading a terrorist government,” said Lindsey Graham, a Republican U.S. senator and one of the sponsors of the resolution.
This radical American senator claimed that the sanctions imposed by the United States and Western countries against Russia have been effective, but “we need to take more measures.”
Responding to a question about this issue on Thursday, Blinken implicitly said that such an action is not necessary considering the many sanctions that have been imposed against Russia.
“The costs imposed on Russia by us and other countries are exactly the same as the consequences of Russia being on the list of state sponsors of terrorism,” he said. Therefore, the practical effects of what we have done are the same.”
From February 24, 2022 (5th of March 1400), after recognizing the independence of Luhansk and Donetsk republics from Ukraine, Russia sent troops to this region and announced the beginning of “special military operations in Ukraine”.
