Moscow criticizes Washington’s absence in ‘Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction’ conference.
Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s representative to international organizations based in Vienna, criticized the United States for not participating in the second conference on “a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction.”
According to Fars News Agency’s International Group, the senior Moscow diplomat called the absence of Washington’s representative at the conference “Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction” a “regret”.
The second session of the Middle East Conference on Weapons of Mass Destruction began with a speech by Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations and President of the Conference, on Monday, December 8, at the UN Secretariat in New York.
Russia’s representative to international organizations based in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, tweeted a photo of the US empty table at the meeting, criticizing Washington’s absence from the meeting.
“The second meeting of the Conference on the Establishment of a Weapons of Mass Destruction in the Middle East is being held in New York,” the senior Moscow diplomat tweeted. Participants seem to make slow but steady progress in their discussions.
