Moscow announced Russia’s conditions for peace with Ukraine.
Rejecting any ultimatum from Ukraine to Russia, the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry put forward conditions for lasting peace with Kyiv and emphasized that the recent Jeddah meeting in Saudi Arabia has no value.
Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated today (Monday) that the resolution of the war in Ukraine is possible only if Kyiv stops hostilities and terrorist attacks and Western countries stop pumping weapons to Ukraine.
According to the report of the Russian news agency Ryanovsi, Zakharova explained the situation in Ukraine: “We are convinced that a completely comprehensive, sustainable and fair solution is possible only if the Kyiv regime stops hostilities and terrorist attacks and the Western supporters of this country also stop sending weapons to Ukraine.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine also stated that “the basic principles of Ukraine’s sovereignty, i.e. its neutrality, non-alignment and non-nuclear status, should be confirmed”.
Regarding the precondition for peace with Ukraine, Zakharova explained: “The truth about the new territories formed as a result of the will of the residents of the new regions of Russia to determine their own destiny and in accordance with the UN Charter must be recognized.”
The disarmament and de-Nazification of Ukraine, the rights of Russian-speaking citizens and national minorities must be guaranteed in accordance with domestic and international laws.
Referring to these cases, the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry said: “We are convinced that the international peace and security that Russia is fighting for is subject to these elements and conditions.”
He then pointed to the meeting of Ukraine in Jeddah, which was held without the presence of Russia, and said: “Any meeting about Ukraine that is held without the participation of Russia and without considering its interests has no value.”
He then criticized the provisions of Zelensky’s peace formula, which specified ultimatums for Russia, and said: “Kyiv and the West, by advancing the Zelensky formula, are trying to downplay the peace proposals of other countries and that none of the clauses of the Zelensky formula are aimed at finding a diplomatic solution. Not for this crisis. It is impossible for Russia to solve the Ukraine issue based on meaningless ultimatums.
