Moroccan stance against Sanaa’s attacks on the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
The Moroccan foreign minister stressed that the security of the Arab countries along the Persian Gulf is part of the security of this African country.
Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Burita discussed the situation in Yemen and the recent attacks on Abu Dhabi in a virtual meeting with Nayef Fallah al-Hijraf, secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
“We condemn the attacks by Houthis and their supporters on civilian and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE,” Burita said.
He added that Morocco considers the stability and security of the Arab countries along the Persian Gulf as part of its security and stability, because the fate of the Maghreb and these countries are the same and they agree on different issues.
According to the Rai Al-Youm newspaper, al-Hijraf also stressed the GCC’s firm position in support of the Maghreb, saying that “any solution to this regional conflict is possible only within the framework of the Maghreb sovereignty and its territorial integrity.”
Morocco has been pushing for sovereignty over the Western Sahara for years, while the Polisario Front has called for a referendum to determine the region’s fate, which Algeria also supports.
