More than 3,000 British Afghan colleagues in Afghanistan have not been able to travel to the country.
The British government announced that more than 3,000 Afghan citizens who were eligible to be transferred to the UK through the “ARAP” program are stuck in Afghanistan and are at risk.
The British House of Commons Defense Committee released a report in February that called the withdrawal from Afghanistan “a dark chapter in British military history” and called for an investigation into the operation.
According to “Sky News”, the British government has rejected the requests for a wide-ranging investigation on this matter and considered the lack of resources to be an obstacle.
The British government’s refusal to participate in a wide-ranging review of Operation Exit has drawn frustration and criticism from MPs, including Tobias Ellwood, chairman of the defense committee, who called for an inquiry.
“Without a full public inquiry, this is a season we will not learn from,” Ellwood said. We cannot change the events that happened in August 2021, but we owe it to those Afghans who risked their lives to help us. We are committed to helping them and their families reach safety.
According to Sky News, 620 Afghan citizens who are eligible to be transferred to England, with their family members totaling 3,750 people, are stuck in Afghanistan.
