More than 1000 prisoners from Yemen and the Saudi coalition are released.
The head of the National Prisoner Affairs Committee in the National Salvation Government of Yemen announced that in the next round, 1,400 prisoners of this country and the Saudi-Emirati coalition will be released.
Abdul Qadir al-Mortaza, the head of the National Prisoners’ Affairs Committee in the National Salvation Government of Yemen, announced that another number of Yemeni prisoners and the aggressor Saudi-Emirati coalition are going to be released soon.
Al-Mortaza told Al-Masira news channel: “We are still waiting for the formation of committees so that the prisons can be visited by the parties (Yemen and the Saudi coalition), which is based on a previous agreement.” Of course, the mercenaries [dependent on the coalition] create obstacles and set preconditions.
Recently, official delegations from Saudi Arabia and Oman arrived in Sana’a to investigate the case of prisoner exchange and ceasefire in Yemen. This was the first visit of the Saudi delegation to Sana’a since the beginning of the all-out war against Yemen, which began in February 2014 and caused many losses and casualties to the Yemeni nation. This war has killed hundreds of thousands of Yemenis and cost tens of billions of dollars to the country’s economy.
He stated that Yemen hopes that there will be no obstacles in terms of visiting prisoner prisons, and clarified: In the next round, 1,400 people from both sides will be released, and if there is an agreement on the expansion of the [prisoner exchange] scope, We welcome this issue.”
This Yemeni official pointed out: Americans obstructed the peace process in the past. In every round of negotiations on the prisoners’ case, they prevent any progress and try to create obstacles in this process.
The head of Yemen’s National Prisoner Affairs Committee emphasized on the 10th of May this month that the country is ready to exchange all prisoners with the aggressor Saudi-Emirati coalition. Al-Mortaza said that the members of the Saudi coalition and its affiliated mercenaries, in determining the prisoners in the prison of Yemen who are to be released, acted selectively based on their affiliation and geographical region.
