Mikhail Gorbachev, the last leader of the Soviet Union, has died.
Russian media announced the death of Mikhail Gorbachev, the last leader of the Soviet Union, at the age of 91.
Russian media reported early Wednesday that Mikhail Gorbachev, the last leader of the Soviet Union, passed away at the age of 91.
Gorbachev was born on March 2, 1931 (corresponding to March 11, 1309 AH). He was the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1985 to 1991, but in December 1991, after an internal coup known as the August Coup, he finally resigned and the Soviet Union collapsed.
Imam Khomeini (RA) addressed Mikhail Gorbachev in a famous and historic letter on 11 January 1367 and asked him to refrain from relying on the West.
Imam’s letter was published in a situation where the Soviet Union was still established as an ideology and the Cold War had not ended. The Berlin Wall had not fallen as a symbol of the separation of East and West, and the rule of communism over the Soviet constitution and over the destinies of the people in the republics of this country was still established.
However, Imam Khomeini (may God have mercy on him) in his instructive letter to Gorbachev spoke about the sound of the bones of Marxism breaking and warned him against turning to the West to solve the economic problems of the Soviet Union.
