McKenzie: The Afghanistan war was a failure for four American governments.
The former commander of the CENTCOM terrorist organization admitted that the war in Afghanistan was a failure for four American governments in the last two decades.
Frank McKenzie, the former head of the American terrorist organization Centcom, admitted that the war in Afghanistan was a failure for four American governments in the last two decades and called this failure a combination of “military and diplomatic failures”.
Pakistan Today, quoting McKenzie, reported that the reason for America’s failure in Afghanistan was that “Pakistanis never believed America would stay, but always thought they would leave.”
The former CENTCOM chief claimed that the Taliban had always had a safe haven in Pakistan and that Washington had never been able to solve the problem in the two decades of the so-called “war on terror” or come to an agreement with Islamabad.
McKenzie added that Washington had engaged in failed nation-building in Afghanistan and was insisting on a Western model of governance in the country, which was wrong.
He said: “I don’t know that Afghanistan will be governed by the Western model; But I know that Afghanistan can be governed with a local model. However, we paid very little attention to the realities of Afghanistan on the scene.”
Claiming that Afghanistan is still a platform for threatening America, he said that it is too early to say what will happen in this war-torn country.
According to him, the extremist groups protected by the Taliban will create new dangers for the future leadership of the United States.
Frank McKenzie headed the US Central Command from 2019 to April 2022.
On August 30, 2021, the United States announced the end of its withdrawal from Afghanistan and ended the 20-year war in this country.
