Lebanon opened its ports and airports to help the victims of the earthquake in Syria.
Following the announcement of Lebanon’s readiness to help the victims of the earthquake in Syria, “Ali Hamieh”, the Minister of Transportation in the interim government of Lebanon, announced in a press conference that Lebanese companies are ready to send mechanical excavators and various machines. They have announced to help for the removal of debris in Syria.
He added that Lebanon’s ports and airports are also at the service of the Syrian people from today, and after consulting with Najib Mikati, the Prime Minister of the interim government, we decided to open the Beirut airport and the ports of Beirut and Tripoli to help the Syrian people. Also, the Lebanese airspace will be open to deliver aid to the victims of the Syrian earthquake, and planes and ships passing through Lebanon to deliver humanitarian aid to Syria will be exempt from taxes and duties.
This Lebanese minister emphasized that despite the dire economic conditions of Lebanon, our aid teams will be with their Syrian brothers in the affected areas.
Before this, various Lebanese authorities and groups, while expressing their deep sympathy with the victims of the earthquake in Syria and Turkey and announcing their readiness to help them, asked the Arab and Islamic countries to unite against the cruel US sanctions against Syria, which hinders the delivery of aid to this country. .
In a phone call with his Syrian counterpart, Hossein Arnous, Najib Mikati informed him of this great calamity and the death of Hossein Arnous’s family members after the terrible earthquake that shook large areas of this country and caused a lot of financial and human losses. He offered his condolences.
