Lebanese representative: “Qardahi” has only expressed his views.
Hezbollah’s representative in the Lebanese parliament said that the Lebanese Minister of Information had simply stated his views and that no mistake had been made.
Hussein al-Haj Hassan, a member of the Lebanese parliamentary faction close to Hezbollah, said in response to a question from Al Jazeera about the country’s information minister, George Qardahi, that Qardahi had not made a mistake but had expressed his views.
On Thursday, Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Wafa Lamaqawmah parliamentary faction announced after the faction’s weekly meeting: “We hold Saudi Arabia responsible for the recent crisis against Lebanon … We pledge once again to resist until our territory is liberated. “We will continue.”
The recent crisis between Lebanon and some Gulf states, especially Saudi Arabia, began with Lebanese Information Minister George Qardahi calling the war against Yemen futile and calling for an end to it in his pre-ministerial remarks.
Following the remarks, Saudi Arabia recalled its ambassador to Beirut and called on the Lebanese ambassador to Saudi Arabia to leave the country. The UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain have similarly recalled their ambassadors from Beirut, stressing that their move was in solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
