The Lebanese president stressed the need to use marine science experts in the case of delineating maritime borders, stressing that in this case, we will never give in to Israel’s blackmailing.
Lebanese President Michel Aoun said that any discussion on the issue of maritime borders, whether development or consolidation, is within the framework of Lebanon’s pure sovereignty.
The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported the meeting with the president quoted him saying: “My answer to the issue of drawing maritime borders and related negotiations is quite clear, and I told those who asked questions about it that the Israelis negotiate on the condition, they either impose what they want on us by force or stop the negotiation, and this is a ransom that we will never give.
The Lebanese president also expressed surprise at the media controversy over the demarcation of the border with Syria and the publication of exaggerated news about the changes implemented by the Syrians.
He said he had personally contacted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and asked him what he was doing at the maritime borders. And he replied: “My knowledge is as much as your knowledge.”
