Lapid’s request to Turkey to close Hamas offices.
The Israeli foreign minister called on the Ankara government to end all support for the Hamas movement and to close all its offices in Turkey.
Tel Aviv also demanded the closure of the offices of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Turkey after Israeli security forces detained a group of 50 Palestinians in the West Bank and claimed that they had been driven from Istanbul.
Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid on Monday evening called on Turkey to close all offices of the Hamas group operating in the country and Ankara to end its support for the group.
“Hamas offices in Istanbul will be closed,” Lapid was quoted as saying by the Times of Israel website, a day before the successful martyrdom of a Palestinian in occupied Jerusalem. “We must prevent these heinous acts of terrorism against the Israelis everywhere and under any circumstances.”
He called on other countries to follow the British government and, like London, completely ban all branches of Hamas, declare it terrorist and stop distinguishing between its political and military branches.
