Kissinger warns Biden about “endless confrontation” with China.
Kissinger is a German-American politician, diplomat and geopolitical consultant who served as Secretary of State and National Security Advisor in the administrations of Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford and is now 99 years old. In his interview with Bloomberg News, he emphasized the importance of understanding China’s dominance.
He said: The current geopolitical situation requires “Nixonian flexibility” to reduce the conflicts between America and China, Russia and Europe.
Kissinger, who helped restore US-China relations in the 1970s, warned that China should not become a hegemon in the world.
This former American diplomat said that Biden should be worried that the importance of understanding China’s dominance over domestic politics will come.
In this Bloomberg interview, Kissinger stated: Biden and the previous American administrations have been very influenced by the domestic dimensions of views on China.
He emphasized: Of course, it is important to prevent the hegemony of China or any other country. But this is not something that can be achieved through endless confrontations.
Kissinger has previously said that the increasingly hostile relationship between the US and China risks a “global catastrophe similar to World War I”.
The former US Secretary of State said about the biggest current crisis in Europe, Russia’s war in Ukraine, that the statements he made earlier this year about the starting point of negotiations to end the war were wrongly reported. He said that he thinks that the time for negotiations is getting closer and the discussion about the future of the Crimean Peninsula should be postponed to the negotiations, not to make a decision about it before the cessation of hostilities.
