Johnson apologized
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, on Wednesday apologized after a video of his office staff mocking and laughing at a large celebration held at the Prime Minister’s Office during last year’s Christmas quarantine, when the rallies were banned. ..
He apologized to the British Parliament for the insult, saying that disciplinary action would be taken if the violation was proven.
Johnson and his cabinet ministers have repeatedly said that the rules were not violated during the late 2020 meetings.
A video broadcast on ITV shows Johnson’s spokeswoman Allegra Stratton in 2020 joking and telling jokes during a rehearsal for a press conference to answer a possible question about the party.
In the video, one of Johnson’s advisers asks Stratton: “I’ve seen reports on Twitter that a Christmas party was being held on Downing Street. Do you approve of these reports?
“I went home,” laughs Stratton, standing in front of the British flag at Downing Street’s official address and smiles.
At the time of the party, tens of millions across the UK were barred from visiting family and close friends during Christmas.
