Italy has lifted the ban on arms sales to Riyadh.

At the same time as the talks and the political solution process to end the war imposed by Saudi Arabia against Yemen are accelerating, some countries are also canceling the ban on arms sales to Riyadh.
In this regard, the Italian government announced in a statement on Wednesday evening after the cabinet meeting that the country has canceled the restrictions on arms sales to Saudi Arabia.
Previously, Saudi Arabia once again emphasized its support for the efforts of the UN envoy to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable political solution in Yemen.
According to Reuters, the export of military equipment to Saudi Arabia was limited by the Italian government in 2019 and 2020 to prevent them from being used in the war against the Yemeni people.
In this statement, the Italian government, while appreciating the recent positions of Saudi Arabia to end this conflict, said that due to the change in the situation on the battlefield, the ban on arms sales to Riyadh is no longer necessary.
Recently, “Hans Grundberg”, the special envoy of the United Nations in Yemen, in a speech at the meeting of the United Nations Security Council, called on the conflicting parties in this country to take decisive steps to reach a peaceful and comprehensive solution in the country.
According to this report, efforts to establish peace between the parties involved in the war in Yemen have gained momentum since Riyadh and Tehran agreed in March to restore diplomatic relations.
According to Reuters, Italy also explained that its new decision on Saudi Arabia is in line with the lifting of a ban on arms sales to the United Arab Emirates linked to the Yemen war last month.
