Israeli raids on Syria are consistent with the regime’s ‘brutal nature’.
Raafat Bakkar, representing the southern Quneitra Province in the Syrian Parliament, made the remarks in an interview with Iran’s IRNA on Monday, one day after an Israeli airstrike against targets near Syria’s western city of Homs.
The air raid only led to some material damage as Syrian air defenses managed to intercept the incoming Israeli missiles in midair and shoot down most of them.
“The occupying regime’s aerial aggression on Syrian territory is compatible with its festering and brutal nature that is far from humanity,” Bakkar said.
“This criminal regime is an evil entity in the region and the world, which carries out different acts of intimidation and terrorism.”
The lawmaker also highlighted the Zionist regime’s financial, weaponry, and logistic support for terror outfits fighting against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
“Since 2011, the Israeli enemy has been providing financial support and weapons to terrorist groups in Syria with the aim of destroying Syrian territory and people,” he said.
However, he added, Tel Aviv “has always failed [as] the Syrian government, along with its allies, has been able to destroy the terrorist groups.”
Bakkar further emphasized that Syria is seeking to liberate its occupied lands from the grip of the child-killing Zionist regime, noting that Damascus also wants the return of occupied Palestine to its real owners, the Palestinian people.
The usurping entity is still pursuing a “bullying” approach and is known to have “an aggressive attitude unparalleled in all the political systems of the world,” he asserted.
