Iraqi Prime Minister: Understanding between Iran and Saudi Arabia is close.
Referring to Baghdad’s mediation in the dialogue process between Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mustafa al-Kadhimi announced the imminent understanding between the two sides.

Regarding Baghdad’s mediation between Tehran and Riyadh and the progress of the talks between the two sides, the Iraqi Prime Minister said: “Iraq has a direct interest in reaching an understanding between the countries of the region and achieving regional stability. “Because we have good relations with both sides, as well as with various regional and international parties, we were able to create a positive dialogue on Iraqi soil, much of which has not been made public.”
“The brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic have a great responsibility to discuss the issue and the requirements of the current situation in the region, and we are confident that, God willing, an understanding will be reached soon,” al-Kadhimi said. At the same time, a real and wide-ranging development in relations between all countries in the region, based on the firm belief and goodwill that the future of the region depends on starting to see it as a system of intersection of interests and convergent rather than crossover. “The current state cannot devote itself to economic construction and achieve global development without solving its problems and reducing its crises to zero.”
So far, five rounds of talks have been held between Riyadh and Tehran to resolve differences between the two countries and reduce tensions in bilateral relations, the last of which, according to media reports, was in Baghdad on Thursday, May 1, 1401, according to the Iraqi Foreign Minister and Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman. It was held in a very positive atmosphere.
The Russian daily Al-Youm quoted an informed Iraqi source as saying that Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi, Iran’s deputy national security adviser and head of Saudi Arabia’s intelligence service were present at the fifth round of talks, which lasted several hours. Riyadh agreed to end security talks and move to diplomatic talks.
