A US media outlets informed sources in the US intelligence services, Iran had planned to infiltrate a military base in the US capital in January.
The Associated Press reported on Sunday, quoting two senior intelligence officials, that Iran intended to infiltrate the Fort McMunier military base in the US capital, Washington, in January this year.
The senior intelligence officials, who told the Associated Press that they were not allowed to disclose sensitive information and therefore did not want to be named, claimed that Iran had planned to visit Fort McKenzie, the official residence of Gen. Joseph Martin, Joint Chiefs of Staff, and several others. Another general is infiltrating and monitoring this base.
They also claimed that General Joseph Martin’s personal life was in danger.
According to the two intelligence officials, the US military has sought to strengthen the security of Fort McNair after the revelation of the plan.
The U.S. military is working to increase the area of Fort McNair from 250 feet (about 76 meters) to 500 feet (more than 150 meters), but Washington officials say the move will give the public access to the Blue Canal. Washington, which is located near this military base, should be limited.
