IMF: 48 countries are at risk of food crisis.
The managing director of the International Monetary Fund has warned that 48 countries are at risk of a global food crisis.
Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, warned on Monday that 48 countries are at risk of a global food crisis, and half of them are vulnerable.
Speaking at a conference in Riyadh, he said that 41 million people in the western world are facing food insecurity.
Georgieva emphasized that the International Monetary Fund will raise its voice to lead to the reduction of restrictions on global food trade.
Western sanctions against Russia, which is one of the largest grain producers and exporters in the world, have aggravated the global food crisis. Meanwhile, America and Westerners claim that Russia caused the global food crisis.
On the other hand, more than 2.3 million tons of grain, wheat, barley and other agricultural products were exported from Ukraine through the Black Sea Corridor between August 1 and September 7.
The Spanish newspaper “El Pais” reported in this regard that at least 38% of these grains are currently exported to the European Union instead of developing countries in Africa.
According to Vasily Nebenzia, Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations, the part of Ukraine’s food contract related to the export of Russian products has not been implemented, which could lead to the termination of the entire deal by Moscow.
