Heavy defeat of Riyadh-affiliated elements in Ma’rib; 120 mercenaries were killed and wounded.
The resigned Yemeni government’s forces and other Saudi-backed elements launched an operation in Ma’rib to obey the orders of the invading Saudi-Emirati coalition, which suffered a heavy defeat.
The forces of the resigned Yemeni government have tried several times in the past few days to reoccupy the strategic area of Al-Talaa Al-Hamraa, west of the city of Ma’rib.
The Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar reported that despite airstrikes by the invading Saudi-Emirati coalition and more than 100 attacks since last Friday morning in various parts of Ma’rib, the resigned forces were unable to advance in the Hama al-Dahla area east of al-Talaa.
According to the newspaper, the Yemeni army and popular committees are advancing northwest of Ma’rib after al-Talaa. Upon receiving information, these forces realized that the mercenary forces were seeking to attack al-Tala’a, which they managed to repel by launching various ambushes.
According to the report, Yemeni forces also managed to advance in the “Al-Mill” area northeast of Ma’rib and repel another attack in the “Al-Qabaqib” and “Al-Hanafir” areas in the east of Talaa.
Al-Akhbar quoted a source in the Ma’rib tribes as saying that the Saudi coalition operations room had ordered elements of the resigned government to reoccupy areas liberated by Yemeni forces last Wednesday. For this reason, the operation of the resigned government elements from the western and northwestern axes of Ma’rib began.
The source said that the number of casualties inflicted on mercenaries affiliated with Riyadh over the past two days indicates that they had no plans for the operation; Because more than 125 mercenaries were killed and wounded during this period.
He noted that a number of high-ranking government officials and commanders had been killed in the operation, which was a “mass suicide to please the coalition”.
The source concluded that the operation was called “Battle of Badr” and involved a large number of al-Qaeda terrorist elements.
