Haniyah (Hamas leader) said he hoped Saudi officials would set a deadline for the release of Palestinian prisoners in Saudi Arabia and that a Saudi court would issue a release order for all prisoners.
“We are waiting for the verdict and the announcement of the release of the Palestinians detained in Saudi Arabia and the closure of their case by the Saudi leaders,” Haniyeh said in a statement yesterday.
It should be noted that sentencing hearings on Palestinian and Jordanian prisoners are scheduled for Sunday and Thursday next week.
The trial of imprisoned Palestinians, including Mohammed al-Khadiri, a former Hamas representative, has taken place over the past two months.
Hamas has said in previous statements that Saudi Arabia has detained about 60 Palestinian Hamas members and sympathizers, including Mohammed al-Khadiri and his son Hani, since April 2019, without giving further details.
