German politician: Citizens should clean themselves with towels instead of showering.
A senior German politician has urged Germans to take fewer showers in an effort to deal with the energy crisis.
Winfried Kirchmann, the Prime Minister of the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, who is a member of the “Green Party” of this country, in an interview, asked German citizens in the future energy crisis of this country and in order to save energy consumption, instead of taking a shower regularly Clean towels.
He said in an interview with the German newspaper Zodost-Press: “Even cleaning yourself with a towel is an effective initiative.”
Kerchman claimed that he considers himself a role model in the field of energy conservation and stated: “I have an electric car. “I have large solar panels on the roof of my house.”
He also said that he has heating equipment for his house with biofuel pellets (a kind of firewood produced from compressed organic matter or biomass).
The media wrote that this device mainly relies on the production of heat from fuel pellets obtained from the woods of the forests of the southeastern United States, and they must be brought from the other side of the world to Germany so that people like Kerchman can use them, while scientists say that these pellets They pollute the environment as much as coal.
In order to produce these fuel pellets, the trees of the forests all over America must be cut, and according to the “Greenpeace” base, this work causes the loss of biodiversity and the destruction of the entire ecosystem. Scientists have estimated that it will take 44 to 100 years for these wars to reproduce again, and the same destruction of natural forests will bring heavy costs to the planet.
Kerchman continued with his recommendations: We usually only provide heating for one room in our house. It’s even healthier that you don’t have the same temperature everywhere in the house.
His comments sparked a wave of criticism among German officials and the public.
Gerhard Papke, head of the German-Hungarian Association in the Federal Republic of Germany, said: Our country is facing an energy crisis that threatens the well-being of millions of people. But what is the answer of Kerchman, the Green Fathers? Don’t shower every day and cleaning with a towel is a useful initiative. What kind of people are really running Germany?
Kerchman also recently presented a five-point plan to combat gas shortages in his state. According to this plan, for example, in government buildings, air conditioning systems are turned off and the maximum room temperature is reduced in winter. Business trips should also be done by train if possible.
After this Kerchman interview, the Germans started a Twitter wave by hashtagging the word “towel”.
