Yemen | Furious attacks by Saudi fighters on Ma’rib; 273 attacks in a single month.
On the eve of the complete liberation of the Yemeni province of Ma’rib, Saudi fighter jets have carried out more than 270 airstrikes in various parts of the province over the past month to prevent this from happening.
A Saudi military source said that Saudi army fighters had bombed more than 273 times in different parts of the province in the past month, when a new round of operations by the Yemeni army and popular committees began in Ma’rib, according to the International News Group.
He told the Yemeni Ansarullah news website that Saudi fighter jets bombed only the city of Sarwah [in the western part of Ma’rib province] 159 times, where the fiercest ground fighting is taking place. 69 times the city of Rahba [southwest of the province] was targeted by Saudi fighters.
Contrary to the insane Saudi airstrikes on Rahba, the city was finally liberated by the Yemeni army and Ansar al-Islam after several days of intense fighting.
According to the Yemeni military official, the towns of Majzar were attacked seventeen times, Jabal Murad ten times, Madaghal nine times, Raghawan four times and Mahliyah five times in the past month.
Without naming himself, he described the blind and widespread attacks by Saudi fighter jets in Ma’rib province as a sign that US claims that it was trying to stop the war in Yemen were false.
Extensive airstrikes by the Saudi coalition came as infantry preferred to flee, while Sanaa government forces managed to reach three kilometers from the city of Ma’rib.
The battle for the liberation of the important province of Ma’rib in the east of Sanaa province (capital) started last year (2020) and most of its areas and cities have come under the control of Sanaa forces.
Ma’rib province is one of the provinces in Yemen with natural resources such as oil and gas. Fighting has intensified since February and March (February and March last year), and the Saudi coalition front and its militias are in a weak position.
